Students completed their mid year Student Learning Targets assessment.
After the assessment Earth Science students completed a diagram of the Water cycle. These were the guidelines for the water cycle diagram: Create a diagram of the water cycle on a piece of copy paper. Place correctly each step with a short description. The following words need to be included on the diagram: evaporation, transpiration, sublimation, condensation, precipitation, infiltration ( see textbook pages 292-293) For a diagram of the water cycle please visit the following website: https://water.usgs.gov/edu/watercycle-screen.html Students will watch the movie before going over the test from Thursday. Daily Science: Students took notes on ionic bonds and worked on ionic bond problems from their handouts. Also information on Covalent bonds was presented and students worked on some of the covalent bond problems.
Homework: Remainder of problems are for homework due tomorrow Wednesday. Test on Thursday: Atoms, Periodic table trends, Ionic and Covalent Bonds. Daily Science: How many electrons does a neutral atom have?
Today in Earth science we talked about valence electrons. We also practiced making Bohr atomic models as well as Lewis Dot Models. We did an activity that helps us understand how the periodic table is organized. Discussed how the periodic table is divided into metals and non metals. Homework: Complete the second page of the atomic basics handout. Daily Science: What makes an atom electrically neutral? Is the atom below an electrically neutral atom? Why? Today in Earth Science class students participated in stations about atoms. Check out one of the research stations at the following website:

After the test please read and answer the questions on the accuracy versus precision worksheet. We will discuss in class tomorrow. Also please begin working on Chapter 3 vocabulary. Chapter 3 vocabulary is due Friday. Daily Science: Convert the following:
1.5 L = _______ mL 2.198 g = _______ kg 3.75 mL = _____ L 4.120 mg = _____ g 5.2500 m = _______ km |
